"But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down,"- William Bennett, Reagan's Secretary of Education and author of The Book of Virtues

To be fair, Bennett dismissed the above tactic as morally wrong, but it does tell us alot about what goes on in his mind. But then again, I'm morally bankrupt leftist, so what do I know?

I went to see M.I.A on Wednesday; I highly recommend her live show, as well as her album, Arular. She was highly energetic and worked the crowd very well, inviting up as many people as the stage would hold and then giving them hugs before she left for the evening. As for political content, besides the Tamil Tiger, people power fist, and Bush/Blair intro, her DJ worked the Kanye West quote into a number of the interludes and she performed a special ad lib for the DC audience during "Bucky Done Gone:"

FBI, quiet down, I need to make a sound,
CIA, quiet down, I need to make a sound,
George Bush, quiet down, I need to make a sound,
White House, quiet down, I need to make a sound.

This made the song especially powerful for me, bringing back memories of my interrogation.

Islamic Relief is raising two million dollars for Katrina's Hurricane victims; I highly recommend donating to them. They are a very courageous organization, frequently operating in locations no one else will (such as Iraq, Chechnya, and Afghanistan). While they are a Muslim organization, they help everyone: after the Beslan massacre they temporarily ceased relief operations in Chechnya and redirected the aid to the Russian hospitals where the survivors were recovering. Please donate whatever you can spare; you can be sure that the recipients will need it more than we will.
