Prison Industrial Complex

An excellent post by Taliba on the Prison Industrial Complex can be found here.

What can be done? Organize.
Critical Resistance is a grass-roots organization dedicated to ending the Prison-Industrial Complex. I know from personal experience that these are hard-working, serious sisters and brothers who are dedicated to achieving their goals. They are definately worth supporting.

The work of Critical Resistance is laudable. However (you knew this was coming), I, as a Muslim, am interested in finding Muslim organizations which focus on political prisoners/prison industrial complex isses. Our faith dictates that we work for justice, and to free the captive. As I point out in my blog comments, political prisoner abuse and railroadings, and racism in the legal system are extremely widespread and irrefutable cases of injustice--with large numbers of Muslim victims. So, where is the Ummah and what is its responsiblity?

Jazaak Allah Khairun for the link.
