Implicit in our actions are certain values; are actions are chosen according to certain principles which in turn are derived from core values. These core values may in turn be traced back to certain 'Ur-values.' Primary among these 'Ur-values' is survival of the individual; without this prerequisite being met, no action, no reflection is possible.
